Society of Law Teachers of Southern Africa Conference 2018
Theme: Transformation of the Legal Profession / Decolonisation of Knowledge
11 to 13 July 2018
The University of Cape Town Law Faculty is proud to host the 2018 Society of Law Teachers of Southern Africa Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference theme is ‘Transformation of the Legal Profession / Decolonisation of Knowledge’.
The conference includes sessions on legal education and the legal academy, and all other major legal disciplines. These include papers on various areas of commercial law, private law, public law, and adjectival law. There is also a strong emphasis on the conference theme in many of the selected papers, with both the practical and theoretical impact thereof being discussed.’
The Faculty of Law looks forward to welcoming you to the University of Cape Town and to exchange ideas and research findings, to collaborate and network with law teachers from the Southern African region and beyond.

Interactive Teaching Workshop for New Academics
A free two-day workshop on teaching for new academics will be offered on 9 to 10 July.
At the end of this workshop you will:
- Be able to describe what is meant by interactive teaching methods and how they can be used to teach about law and human rights
- Appreciate the importance of using interactive teaching and learning methods when teaching about law and human rights
- Be able to prepare a lesson plan for an interactive lesson on law and human rights
- Be able to present an interactive lesson on an aspect of law and human rights

Registration details and fee
Your registration fee includes all conference documentation, tea breaks and lunch during the conference days (11 to 13 July 2018). Flights, transport to and from the conference venue and any overnight accommodation are for the delegate's own account.
Early bird registration (up to and including 31 May): R2,500
Standard registration (from 1 June): R3,000
